Project Summary
Horacio D. reached out with a very specific challenge — a pie-shaped slip behind his home in Sunny Isles Beach that measured only nine feet wide at its narrowest point. He wanted to protect his 21-foot bowrider but couldn’t install a traditional lift due to limited clearance and seawall geometry.
We recommended the Wave Armor Pro 8 Boat Port, one of our most popular residential drive-on models, because its 8-foot width and 4,500-lb capacity made it a perfect fit for the space and the boat.
- Location: Sunny Isles Beach Canal Slip
- Project Type: Wave Armor Pro 8 Boat Port
- Vessel: 21′ Bowrider (Inboard/Outboard)
- Category: Residential Boat Port Installation
- Installed By: Floating Docks Florida
The Challenge
The wedge-shaped canal slip provided little margin for error — too narrow for conventional lifts and too irregular for a framed dock system. Horacio needed a port that could:
- Fit safely within a 9-foot space without touching the seawall,
- Support his 21′ fiberglass I/O hull without flexing, and
- Allow easy boarding and launch in a confined area.
Our Solution
We installed a 20-foot Wave Armor Pro 8 Boat Port anchored with dual 2-inch galvanized pipe brackets and HD collars for precise alignment. The 8-foot profile gave Horacio just enough clearance, and the port’s tapered entry made loading smooth even in tight quarters.
The port’s full-length roller system self-centers the hull and provides effortless drive-on access while protecting the sterndrive unit from contact.
Materials & Setup
- Model: Wave Armor Pro 8 Boat Port
- Overall Length: 20 ft
- Width: 8 ft
- Weight Capacity: 4,500 lbs
- Anchoring: Dual 2″ galvanized pipe brackets with reinforced collars
- Surface Finish: UV-stable tan polyethylene with anti-slip texture
- Application: 21′ bowrider (I/O) in narrow residential canal
The setup keeps Horacio’s boat fully dry, eliminating barnacle growth, electrolysis, and hull staining — three of the biggest issues for year-round saltwater storage.
The Result
The finished port fit the space perfectly, maintaining safe clearance while allowing Horacio to walk around both sides for cleaning and cover access. The Pro 8’s compact footprint makes it ideal for high-value waterfront properties where space is limited but convenience is essential.
